  Research Notes:

LACK OF EVIDENCE

The evidence for relationships in this line of the Gartshore family is circumstantial and mostly inferred. Various points can be made, though they are clearly not hard evidence.

1
There is a discreet group of baptisms recorded in Kilsyth parish 1645-1652, where residence of those involved is in (New) Monkland parish. New Monkland baptisms do not start till 1693.

2
The first born of Troilus Gartshore is named Thomas.

3
Alexander Gartshore is a witness at two baptisms of the children of Troilus.

4
Alexander Gartshore is also in Monkland parish when his daughter is baptised in Kilsyth parish.

5
Other Kilsyth records, the 1643 marriage of Robert Gartshore and the 1645 baptism of his child where residence is noted as Lenzie parish, are probably linked to Thomas, who had a brother Robert.

See also the note on Speculative Placing in the research notes for Alexander Gartschoir (ID: I101), placed as son of this Thomas Gartschoir.

Thomas married.
