"DAVID PITCAIRN, born 1672, son of James P., min. of Kettle ; educated at Univ. of St Andrews ; M.A. (30th Aug. 1693); ord. to Creich 27th Aug. 1695 ; for refusing to go to the North and supply vacant pulpits, he was suspended by Commission of Assembly, and the church declared vacant 15th Sept. 1700; app. chaplain to 26th Foot, and sentence of suspension taken off by Assembly 31st March 1705; called 23rd Dec. 1707; adm. 8th Jan. 1708; died Father of the Church 18th April 1757.
