In her will of 1783 Mary Forbes, nee Gordon, referred to the "now husband" , that is the second husband, of her daughter Christian, who had earlier been widowed, as

" - More, Painter in Edinburgh".

The painter who almost certainly being alluded to was Jacob More (1740-1793), a landscape painter.

To William More Mert & Janet Brooks his Spouse asn: Jacob : Mr. Alexander Ferguson Printer & John Johnston Poultreyman Child Born the 26 th Septemr last & Baptised by Mr George Wishart one of the Ministers of the City"

Jacob More studied with James Norie's firm, taking Gaspard Dughet and Claude Lorrain as his stylistic models. He settled in Italy though exhibited at the Royal Academy in London, moving to Rome in 1791. He numbered Allan Ramsay (1713-1784) among his friends, and designed a garden for the Villa Borghese in the Scottish landscape style. Duncan Forbes of Culloden was a patron of Ramsay, and this may have been a link for More to the Forbes extended family, though Edinburgh's social elite would no doubt have been easily know to one another. A self-portrait of Jacob More can be seen at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacob_More (summary from Wikipedia articles)

Note:
Christian Forbes, More's wife, was a distant cousin to the Forbeses of Culloden, not only through her Forbes ancestors but through her Gordon ancestors too.

Christian's "now husband" was recorded as

" - More, Painter in Edinburgh",

and Christian is also referred to as

"Relict of the deceased James Robertson late merchant in Aberdeen". (Wills and Testaments) 1
