Janet married William FORBES, son of Right Reverend Mr Patrick FORBES 5th of Corse, Bishop of Aberdeen and Lucrece SPENCE.¹ (William FORBES was born about 1590 and died before 1635(dvp) ².)

Note:

House of Forbes says that this William Forbes married

"Elizabeth, Lady Sinclair, a daughter of the Laird of Foveran, in 1614, but had no issue."

The author goes on to say of his brother John, born 1593:

"His second wife was Janet Turing, who, in 1654, is described as 'Dowager of Corse'."

In Family of Forbes, page 49, Lumsden refers to the laird of Foveran as Turing:

"John Forbes, called John with the ha' slang, married Turing, daughter to the Laird of Foverane, who did bear to him John Forbes of Tilliegonie."

As far as can be ascertained by this researcher, only the families of Turing and Forbes were known as the Lairds of Foveran. So Janet Turing, 'Dowager of Corse', was more likely the widow of William Forbes and not of his brother John. ^{1 2}
