In his death certificate of 1917 Rodger Hammel [sic] was recorded as "Dyer & Cleaner, Widower of 1 Mary Ritchie, 2 Jane Duncan or Hale". His usual residence was Inglis Green's Ciottages, Slateford. ³

Jane married Roger HAMEL, son of Charles HAMMEL and Alice IRVINE, on 11 March 1902 in St Cuthbert's RC Church, Slateford Road, Edinburgh, Scotland.¹ (Roger HAMEL was born about 1845 in Ireland ⁴ and died 25 June 1917 at 3.15 pm in The Home, 43 Gilmour Place, Edinburgh, Scotland ³.). The cause of his death was cerebral haemorrhage over 5 days.

  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated afte publication of banns according to the forms of the Roman Catholic Church by John Forsyth, RC Clergyman of that parish. Jane Packman and Thirza Smith were witnesses.

Rodger Hammel was a widower aged 57 years and resided at 164 Gorgie Road, Edinburgh. He was a dyer by trade. His parents were deceased.

Jane Duncan or Hale was 35 years old and a widow, who lived at 160 Gorgie Road, Edinburgh. Her parents were deceased.

The marriage was registered at Edinburgh on 14 March 1902. ¹
