   Cause of her death was coronary thrombosis and arterio-sclerosis.4

In her death certificate of 1954 Helen Ireland was recorded as "Married to 1st Alexander Watson Coal hewer 2nd James Straiton Coal Hewer". Her age at death was recorded as 66 years. Her father John Ireland, a coal hewer, and her mother Agnes Robb were both deceased. 4

J. Dickson MB ChB certified the causes of death.

Joseph Straiton, of 184 Campbell Street, gave notice of the death of his mother before the registrar at Hamilton on 16 December 1954. 4

Helen next married James Scott STRAITON, son of William STRAITON and Helen SCOTT, on 17 June 1927 in The Manse, Burnbank, Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 2 (James Scott STRAITON was born 1 March 1883 at 11.50 am in Butterdales Cottages, Dornock parish, Dumfriesshire, Scotland,6 died 3 February 1959 at 0.50 am in 6 Hardie Street, Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland 7 and was buried on 5 February 1959 in West Cemetery, Section F Lair 268, Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland 3.). The cause of his death was asthma, bronchitis and cardiac failure.4


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated according to the forms of the Established Church of Scotland. The minister was John Smith Sievwright of Burnbank Parish Church. The witnesses were Joseph Beattie of 56 Albert Bld, Earnock, Burnbank, and Margaret Ireland, 5 Guthrie Street Hamilton.

James Straiton was a coal miner and a widower, aged 44 years, living at 52 Argyle Buildings, Earnock. His mother was deceased.

Helen Ireland or Watson was a widow aged 39 years, of 43 Pollock Street, Hamilton. Her mother was deceased.

The marriage was registered at Hamilton on 18 June 1927. 2
