INNES, Thomas 1 2
User ID: W295. General Notes: "The origin of the house of Innes of Pethnick I have not yet definitely established, though I suspect that its progenitor was Thomas, sixth son of Sir James Innes of that ilk by his second wife Margaret Culane, who is first mentioned in the entail of Muldavit, 1491. (Familie of Innes, p. 89.) Since Sir James's marriage to Margaret Culane took place in 1473, and Thomas was the youngest son, it is probable that he was born between 1475 and 1480, and for some reason he is not mentioned in the Aberchirder entail of 1487. (Ib., p. 84.) He may however be the 'Thomas Innes in Balnacoull' who, along with William Innes of Crommey (eldest son of Sir James's second marriage), Robert Innes in Drainie, and Berowald Innes in Halton, were witnesses to a charter of Kilmalemnock. 30 March 1499. (Gt. Seal, Vol. II., No. 2493.) " Thomas married. |
