Thomas married Marjorie STEWART heiress of Echt, daughter of Sir Andrew STEWART of Sandauch (Sandlaw, Alvah parish, Banffshire) and Unknown.¹ (Marjorie STEWART heiress of Echt was born about 1412.)

"Thomas Forbes, the oy'r (younger) son of Alaster cam, called Thom in the Loch, married Marjorie Stewart, brother's daughter to the Earle of Marr, and heretrix of the Lands o' Echt, who did bear to him 5 sons, viz. Alex, elder, Alex, younger, and John Forbes, called John Ower."

"Chapter XXXVI.

ECHT. I. The family of Forbes of Echt sprang from 'Tom of the Loch,' natural son of Alexander or Alistair Cam Forbes, 1st Laird of Brux. Thomas married Marjory Stewart, niece of the Earl of Mar, and heiress of the lands of Echt, and had three sons, Alexander the elder, his heir. Another Alexander, who had a son, James in Larie, and a grandson and great-grandson both named William Forbes of Keithmore, but their descendants are not known. And a third son, John of Tilliegonie, who married a Garioch."
