   Another name for Patrick was COOK, Walter.4

  General Notes:

There is an entry from the Register of Corrected Entries (RCE), for the district of Calton in the Burgh of Glasgow, attached to the birth reord of Walter Cook where the Sheriff permits the substitution of the name "Patrick" for "Walter" in the first column of his birth certificate. The entry states that this change was made based on an entry in the Register of Baptisms of St Mary's Chapel Glasgow made by the Roman Catholic Clergyman Reverend Mr Leo Power. The RCE entry is dated 29th October 1929, and stamped 15 November 1930.

Patrick Cook was a cotton mill storeman, according to his daughter Catherine's marriage certificate.

In his wife Catherine's 1949 death certificate Patrick Cook was recorded as an iron moulder.

In his own death certificate of 1952 Patrick was recorded as a "Roads Worker (retired)". The informant was his daughter who signed herself as J. Urquhart. 2 3 6


Patrick married Catherine JENNINGS, daughter of Thomas JENNINGS and Mary Ann CAVANAGH, on 23 November 1900 in St Mary's RC Chapel, Glasgow, Scotland.1 (Catherine JENNINGS was born on 28 October 1879 in 136 Piccadilly Street, Anderston, Glasgow, Scotland 1 5 7 and died on 2 September 1949 in 24 Finnart Street, Glasgow, Scotland 2 5.). The cause of her death was pulmonary neoplasm over 3 months.3


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage took place after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The couple were married by John J. Dyer. The witnesses were Thomas Jennings and Mary Jennings.

Patrick Cook worked as a journeyman ironmoulder. He was a single man of 25 years of age, living at 34 Abercromby Street, Glasgow.

Kate Jennings, of the same address, was 21 years old and single. She was a confectionery worker. Her father was deceased.

The marriage was registered on 5 December 1900 at Glasgow. 1
