Robert Stewart, provost of Aberdeen, was a witness at the baptism in 1718 in St Nicholas parish Aberdeen, of Janet Gordon, daughter of John Gordon, Minister of Deer, brother in law of Stewart:

Robert married Anna GORDON, daughter of John GORDON Merchant, Provost of Aberdeen, MP, 'Campvere' and Janet GORDON.1 (Anna GORDON was baptised on 30 August 1684 in Saint Nicholas parish, Aberdeen, Scotland 2 3 4.)

"Likewise Robert Stewart son to Alexander of the ancient family of the Stewarts of Bonkle married to Anne daughter of the said John Gordon who lies interred at Fetteresso. He was thrice Provost of the town and Lieutenant and Sheriff of the county of Aberdeen and discharged these and other offices with fidelity and having lived in the steady practice of piety and virtue he resigned his soul to God March 10 1749 in the 79th year of his age..."
