"John Gordon, born about 1685, son of John G., Provost of Aberdeen (1706-7); educated at Marischal College, Aberdeen, 1702-6; licen. by the Presb. there 24th April 1710; called by the Presb. jure devoluto 20th Feb., and ord. (in the Session - house at Aberdeen) 6th April 1711, the service in the parish having been prevented by a hostile crowd; died between 21st Jan. and 25th Feb. 1718. He marr. (1) Barbara, youngest daugh. of John Gordon of Fechil (2) 1717, Jean (survived him, and marr. (2) James Leslie, min. of Crimond), daugh. of Alexander Forbes of Ludquharn, and had issue Janet (marr. James Walker, min. of Peterhead)."
