"David Cumming, born about 1649, fourth son of John Cumming of Relugas, and brother of preceding; M.A. King's College, Aberdeen, 1667; became schoolmaster of Turriff; pres. by Colin Falconar, min. of Forres, before 6th March, passed trials before the Presb. and was recommended to the bishop for ordination 4th, ord. (at Elgin) 25th, and adm. 28th April 1672. Being recommended by the Committee for the North, he was received into communion 24th July 1694; was app. to visit the Highland parishes 4th Feb. 1699, and died in summer of that year. He marr. before 16th Jan. 1674, Elspet, youngest daugh. of Peter Meldrum of Laithers. She survived him, was served one of the heirs of her uncle, John Hay of Logie, and had issue James of Presley; Peter, surgeon in Inverness; John, min. of Humbie; Alexander of Slug; Grizel (marr.
