In the 1881 census William was aged 21 and was an apprentice engineer. He lived at 40 Lancaster Street, Walton on Hill, Lancashire, England. He was unmarried.

"MR W. TWEEDLEY. At the advanced age of 79 years, Mr William Tweedley passed. away at his son's residence; 44 Alma-terrace, Newport, on Sunday. Born at Liver pool, he leaves a married daughter and one son. On Monday the remains were interred in the Williamstown. Rev. J. T.
