The 1891 census for Walton on the Hill, Liverpool, recorded Jane Tweedley living with her parents and siblings at 40 Lancaster Street. She was recorded as 33 years of age and born in Liverpool. She was a single woman, a milliner, not as employee but as employer.

In 1901 James and Jane Tweedley were living with their daughter Jane and their sons James and John Henry at 14 Stalmine Road, Walton on the Hill, Liverpool, according to that year's census.
