Ann Crawford's death certificate of 1870 recorded that she was "married to James Crawford Soldier (Marine)". 4


James married Ann FEELY, daughter of James FEELY and Sarah FARREL, on 11 July 1864 in Carnwath Manse, Carnwath, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (Ann FEELY was born in 1842, baptised on 4 May 1842 in Shankill RC parish, County Armagh, Ireland 5 and died 20 February 1870 at 3.10 pm in Turfholm, Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire, Scotland 4.). The cause of her death was consumption.


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the forms of the Church of Scotland. Alexander Hugh McLean, Minister of the Parish of Carnwath, married the couple. The witnesses were H. S. McNeill and Alexander Massan (? unclear).

James Crawford was a single man, aged 20 years, who worked as a coal miner, and lived in Wilsontown in Carnwath parish. His mother was deceased.

Agnes Feely, who made her X mark, was also single and she was 21 years of age. She lived in Lesmahagow. She worked as a domestic servant.

The marriage was registered at Carnwath on 12 July 1864. 2
