  General Notes:

The Registerd Freeholders Returns for County Armagh, Ireland, recorded Bernard O'Neal [sic] as a freeholder in the registry on 25 August 1813. His land and house had a value of 40/-, so he was one the "Forty Shillings Freeholders", Catholic or Protestant, who had the right to vote between 1793 and 1829. In the return, Bernard's residence or 'place of abode' was recorded as 'Cornikinigar', in the barony of Oneilland East, and his landlord as 'William Brownlow Esquire'. In the section 'Names of Lives or other Tenure', the names 'Bernard, Arthur and Michael O'Neill' [sic] were entered. Freeholders held their property either as outright owners, called fee simple, or by a lease for a life or lives, that is for the term of his life or the three lives named in the lease. The latter appears to be the case here.

On 26 August 1818, another freehold entry in the registry was recorded for Arthur O'Neill at Cornikinigar. The landlord was Charles Brownlow. The same three names were entered as 'Lives or other Tenure'.

On 11 January 1819, another freehold entry in the registry was recorded for Bernard O'Neill at Cornikinigar, this time with Charles Brownlow as landlord. The same three names were entered as 'Lives or other Tenure'.

In Ireland, Griffith's Valuation, 1847-1864, under Cornakinnegar in the Parish of Shankill in the barony of Oneilland east, are listed the names of Bernard O'Neill, Arthur O'Neill and Bernard O'Neill jun. Further down Henry Neill is also found. 3

Arthur married Catharine HENDERSON. (Catharine HENDERSON was born about 1802.)
