"John Gordon of General Staats Long Morris's 89th Regiment, made his brother Thomas, merchant in Leith, his executor, which Cuthbert Gordon of the Cudbear Company at Leith was cautioner. This John died unmarried at Fort St. George, in the East Indies (his will is dated 1761)."
