Margaret married Robert ARBUTHNOTT of Caterline, son of David ARBUTHNOTT of Achterforfar, then of Caterline and Jean KEITH, on 2 April 1642 in Arbuthnott parish, Kincardineshire, Scotland.1 2 (Robert ARBUTHNOTT of Caterline was born about 1619.)

"Margaret, married, first, to Robert Arbuthnott of Caterline, eldest son of David Arbuthnott of Achtirforfar (contract dated 19 April 1642), with issue" (page 286)

"Robert, infeft in Caterline in his father's lifetime, 21 July 1641. He married, 1642, Margaret, daughter of Robert Arbuthnott of Fiddes, and by her, who, after his death, married Sir George Ogilvy of Barras, he had : (i) Robert, served heir to his father 2 June 1666. By disposition dated 18 September 1669 he sold Caterline to his cousin Simon Arbuthnott. (ii) Alexander, described as Dr. Alexander in his mother's testament, recorded 16 May 1690. He seems to have been in practice in Dundee. (iii) David. iv) Jean, married to George Rait in Kinghorne." (page 292)

Margaret next married Sir George OGILVY of Barras, 1st Baronet, Governor of Dunottar Castle, son of William OGILVY of Balnagarrow, then of Lumgair and Catherine STRACHAN, 3 October 1656(contract) married before 16 January 1657.2 3 (Sir George OGILVY of Barras, 1st Baronet, Governor of Dunottar Castle was born about 1625 and died by 2 December 1679 3.)


  Marriage Notes:

Margaret, married .... secondly, prior to 16 January 1657, to Sir George Ogilvy of Barras, created a baronet in 1661 for his defence of Dunottar Castle in 1652, and his consequent share in the preservation of the Honours of Scotland. She died November 1689.."
