User ID: B920. Catherine married Perkin WARBECK January 1495(1496).1 (Perkin WARBECK was born about 1470 and died on 23 November 1499 1.). The cause of his death was execution by hanging. Marriage Notes: "Catherine, who had a romantic history. She was married in January 1495-96 to Perkin Warbeck, who claimed to be Richard, Duke of York, one of the young princes who were said to be slain in the Tower. After her husband's death on 23 November 1499, she was well treated at the court of King Henry VII., who styled her the 'White Rose.' .... She died in October 1537, her will being dated 12 October and proved in London 5 November of that year. She had no children by any of her husbands. She was apparently daughter of Elizabeth Hay." Catherine next married James STRANGEWAYS of Fyfield before 13 February 1512.1 (James STRANGEWAYS of Fyfield was born about 1475 and died in 1515 1.) Marriage Notes: "Catherine ... was married, secondly, before 13 February 1512, to James Strange-ways of Fyfield, and was a widow again in 1515 ... " Catherine next married Sir Matthew CRADOCK of Swansea in 1517.1 (Sir Matthew CRADOCK of Swansea was born about 1470 and died about July 1531 1.) Marriage Notes: "Catherine ... was married thirdly, in 1517, to Sir Matthew Cradock of Swansea, Catherine next married Christopher ASSHETON of Fyfield.1 (Christopher ASSHETON of Fyfield was born about 1480.) Marriage Notes: "Catherine ... was married ... fourthly, to Christopher Assheton of Fyfield. She died in October 1537, her will being dated 12 October and proved in London 5 November of that year." |
