The 1853 date is probably part of the banns of marriage for this couple.

There is also an entry for FRANCIS MANN in the International Genealogical Index
Marriage: AUG 1854 New Monkland, Lanark, Scotland to Elisabeth BRANNON.
This may be yet another misreading of variation in the spelling of Elizabeth's name. If so the marriage was probably at St Margaret's RC Church in Airdrie. 1
