  Research Notes:

DUNKINTIE

Dunkintie at times in the 16th century belonged to the Gordon family, after having previously been Innes territory. Later it came back to John Innes of the family of Leuchars.

Issabel married Lieutenant-Colonel George INNES of Caldcotts, son of Alexander INNES of Cotts, 'Craig in Peril', later of Leuchars and Marjorie GORDON.1 (Lieutenant-Colonel George INNES of Caldcotts was born about 1606.)

  Marriage Notes:

".... their Sister Issabel Gordon married John (see Note below) Innes of Coldcoats of whom is come the present Laird of Dunkintie."

from Balbithan MS

Note:

Issabel's husband was George Innes, not John. A later John Innes of Leuchars settled the Leuchars property on the Innes family of Dunkinty.

"George (Innes), had a pair of colours in Lord Spynie's regiment, raised for the service of Gustavus Adolphus, c. 1626. He was afterwards (1653) a Lieutenant Colonel in the King's army, and was laird of Caldcotts. His descendants took their style from Dunkinty, and eventually succeeded to the estate of Leuchars."
