  General Notes:

Mary Hart was recorded by the 1891 census for the parish of Shotts, living at 4 Dick's Row, Cleland. She was 9 years old and had been born in Shotts parish.

The 1901 census for the parish of Holytown in Lanarkshire recorded Henry McConnaghie, aged 25 years and working as a coal miner, as head of a household living at Mason's Land Holytown. Henry had been born in Greenhill, in Shotts parish. The household consisted of himself, his wife, Mary, their baby daughter, Mary Ann, aged 2 months, and one visitor and one boarder: Hannah Hart, Mary's sister, aged 10 years, born in Cleland in Shotts parish, and a boarder, Mary's brother in law, Bernard McConnaghie, aged 16 years, born in Greenhill, Shotts, and working as a coal miner. Mary McConnaghie was recorded as 19 years of age, and born in Cleland in the parish of Shotts.

In her death certificate of 1950, Mary McConnachie née Hart, aged 68 years, was recorded as the wife of Henry McConnachie, coal miner. Both of her parents, Michael Hart and Mary O'Connor, were deceased. 1 2

Mary married Henry McCONNACHIE, son of Michael McCONAGHEY in Greenhill, (DNA Link) and Margaret CRANEY in Cornakinnegar, on 29 December 1899 in RC Chapel, Cleland, Lanarkshire, Scotland. (Henry McCONNACHIE was born 25 April 1875 at 2.00 pm in Greenhill, Shotts Parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland and died in 1904 in Motherwell & Wishaw district, North Lanarkshire, Scotland 6.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated, after banns, according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The priest was Father Patrick Hackett. The witnesses were Henry Creaney and Jane Teerley.

Henry McConnaghie was an unmarried man of 24 years, who worked as a coal miner. His address was noted as McAulay's Buildings, Cleland, West District of Shotts. Henry's father, Michael, was deceased.

Mary Hart was unmarried, and just 18 years old. She was a brickfield worker, of Wyndedge, West District of Shotts. Her parents, Michael Hart, a coal miner, and Mary Ann Connor were alive.

The marriage was registered on 1 January 1900, William Spence being the registrar.
