McCONVIL, John
Another name for John was McCONVILLE, John.1 2 General Notes: The 1881 census for Carnwath recorded John McConville living as head other household at 2 Lothian Street. As well as his wife Alice, he had living with him at that date three sons and two daughters. John, who was Irish born, was aged 36 and worked as a coal miner. John married Alice HUGHES, daughter of Patrick HUGHES and Agnes KENNEDY, on 26 November 1863 in Carluke, Lanarkshire, Scotland. (Alice HUGHES was born in 1844 in Rathfriland, County Down, Ireland 1.) Marriage Notes: The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The presiding priest was Mortimer Cassidy, RC Clergyman Carluke, and the witnesses were Catherine Maclean and Matilda Kirk. |
