The 1900 US Federal Census for Osceola Mills, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, recorded Frank Orourke and his seven children, five daughters and two sons, living in Elizabeth Street. John Orourke was the eldest son and third eldest of the children recorded. He had been born in March 1882 and was 18 years of age. His birthplace was Scotland. He worked as a coal miner and had had no unemployment within the previous twelve months. He could read and write, and spoke English. ²
