Maggie O'Donald was recorded, by the 1881 census, living at Penman's Land, Biggar Road, in Bothwell parish, the parish where she had been born. She was just 2 years old.

Margaret was recorded by the 1891 census living with her brother, John, and her sister, Mary, in High Rows, Chapelhall. She was aged 12 years and had been born in Bothwell parish..

The 1901 census recorded Maggie and her sister, Mary, living with their mother, Mary, and step father, John McGinley, at 53 Omoa Square, Cleland, in the parish of Shotts. Maggie was single and her age was recorded as 22 years. She was a brick work girl by occupation. Her birthplace was noted as Airdrie.

When Margaret died in 1919 she was recorded as married to Patrick Weldon coal miner. Her age at death was noted as 38 years. Her father was deceased.

In the birth certificates of her children Margaret's surname is recorded as Donnelly or McDonnell. 1 3 4

Patrick Weldon, widower, who had been present where Margaret's death occurred, gave notice before the registar at Motherwell on 15 January 1919.


Margaret married Patrick WELDON on 12 July 1907 in RC Church, Craigneuk, Lanarkshire, Scotland. (Patrick WELDON was born about 1876 and died 28 April 1926 at 7.30 pm in 13 Belhaven Buildings, Craigneuk, Wishaw, Lanarkshire, Scotland.). The cause of his death was pneumonia and cardiac failure.


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated, after banns, according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The witnesses were Bernard Breadly and Mary McAvoy.

Patrick Weldon was an unmarried man, of 30 years of age, who worked as a coal miner. His address was noted as Hyndfield Row, Chapelhall. Both of his parents, Patrick Weldon, an iron work labourer, and Mary Swift, were deceased.

Maggie Donnelly was unmarried too, and was aged 28 years. Her address was 44 United Buildings, Craigneuk. By occupation she was a brickburner. Her mother was still living, but her father was dead.

The marriage was registered in Dalziel parish on 15 July 1907, George Sneddon registrar signing.
