Mary died at the recorded age of 45 years in Blantyre. Her usual residence was Toryglen, Chapelhall, Lanarkshire. Her husband, James, a coal miner, survived her. Her father was deceased. 2

Michael Harkin MB ChB certified the cause of death.

James McGunnigal, widower of the deceased, of Toryglen, Chapelhall, gave notice of his wife's death before the registrar at Blantyre, Samuel Currie, on 30 June 1924.


Mary married James McGUNNIGAL, son of James McGUNNIGAL and Mary ROURKE, on 11 April 1913 in St Joseph's RC Chapel, Blantyre, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (James McGUNNIGAL was born 22 February 1883 at 3.30 am in High Rows, Chapelhall, Holytown, Lanarkshire, Scotland 4 and died 14 October 1939 at 2.35 am in County Hospital, Cleland, Lanarkshire, Scotland.). The cause of his death was malignant tumour of the bladder/secondary tumour of the spine; and paraplegia.


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated, after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The officiating priest was Father Thomas Hackett. The witnesses were Patrick Hamill and Mary Boyle.

James McGunnigle was a coal pit brusher, aged 33 years, of Hillside Terrace, Chapelhall. He was a bachelor. He signed the marriage book.

Mary Mulvanny was a farm servant, aged 34 years, of 103 Stonefield Road, Blantyre. She too was a single woman and signed her name. her parents were Patrick Mulvanny and Mary McGough.

The registration of the marriage was at Blantyre on 4 April 1913, the registrar being James Brown. 1
