   Cause of her death was burns on trunk & limbs 1 day; shock; and syncope.

   Other names for Sarah were CROSBEY, Sarah, CROSBIE, Sarah,1 2 CROSSBY, Sarah, MATHIESON, Sarah, VALLELEY, Sarah 1 and VALLELY, Sarah.2

  General Notes:

In her death certificate of 1908 Sarah was recorded as having died at the age of 51 years. She was the widow of two husbands:
1st James Vallely coal miner
2nd John Mathieson coal miner.
She died in hospital and her usual residence was 33 Flemington Row Cambuslang. Both of her parents were deceased.

  Medical Notes:

J. Alexander MB ChB certified the cause of death.

Thomas Mathieson, son of the deceased, of 15 Wellside Place, Halfpenny, Cambusland, gave notice of his mother's death before William Potter, registrar, at Glasgow on 15 April 1908.


Sarah married James VALLELY, son of Edward VALLELY and Ellen QUIN, on 20 September 1874 in RC Chapel, Wishaw, Lanarkshire, Scotland. (James VALLELY was born in 1854 in Shotts parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland 1 and died 22 October 1877 at 8.45 am in No 2 Pit, Dixon's Colliery, Blantyre, Lanarkshire, Scotland.). The cause of his death was fire damp explosion.


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The celebrant was John McCay, Catholic priest. The witnesses were Joseph O'Neill and Mary Kane, both of whom made their X mark.

James Vailey [sic], who made his X mark, of Carfin in the parish of Bothwell was a bachelor of 20. He worked as a coal miner. Both of his parents were deceased.

Sarah Crosbey was an unmarried woman of 18 who worked as a steam loom weaver. She too was 'of Carfin' and made her X mark. Her mother was deceased.

The marriage was registered at Wishaw on 24 September 1874, Thomas Steele being the signing registrar.

Sarah next married John MATHIESON in 1879. (John MATHIESON was born about 1850 and died before 17 April 1908.)
