General Notes: Agnes was born in 1855, making her birth certificate in the first year of statutory recording of births in Scotland the longer style certificate. She was her mother's second child; and they therefore had one son and one daughter living. It also gave places of her parents' births and place and year of their marriage. Her father, Edward, who made his X mark, informed the registrar, William Paterson, at Shotts on 29 January 1855 of his daughter's birth. 2 |
