  General Notes:

In the 1851 census Sarah was recorded living in New Monkland parish. She was a widow of 45 years, the head of her family, living at 31 Bairds Square. With her were a son, Thomas, a daughter Bridget, a niece Catherine McCann and two nephews James and Robert McCann, a lodger Peter Currie, and another niece and nephew Ellen Quin and Thomas Quin. Ellen worked as a cotton mill weaver, aged 26. Ellen's brother Thomas, aged 18 years, worked as an iron miner.

On 20 November 1851 a 'Sally Vallely' was a witness at the marriage of Edward Vallely and Ellen Quine at St Margaret's RC Chapel Airdrie. The other witness was John Abercromby.

Sally was the informant of her granddaughter Bridget's birth at Rawyards Airdrie in July 1855. She made her X mark. Bridget was the daughter of Sally's son Thomas. 4 8


Sarah married Charles VALLELY in Gortin & Glebe on 5 February 1827 in Dungannon parish, County Tyrone, Ireland.1 (Charles VALLELY in Gortin & Glebe was born about 1802 in Ireland and died before 27 January 1856 4.)
