Rose's death certificate of 1884 recorded her as married to James Hamill and aged 30 years. Her mother was deceased. 2

  Medical Notes:

Patrick McAvoy, brother of the deceased, of High Rows Chapelhall, notified the registrar of his sister Rose's death and made his X mark.


Rose married James HAMILL, son of John HAMILL and Margaret McKEE, on 30 August 1883 in Chapelhall, Holytown district, Bothwell parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (James HAMILL was baptised on 1 May 1853 in St Margaret's RC parish, Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland 3 and died 6 March 1896 at 1.30 pm in Royal Infirmary, Glasgow, Scotland.). The cause of his death was tetanus.


  Marriage Notes:

James was aged 29, resided at High Rows Chapelhall and worked as a coal miner. Both of his parents were dead.

Rose was aged 28 and worked as a domestic servant. She too was living at High Rows. Her father was still alive but her mother had died.

Fr Hubert van Stiphout was the priest who married the couple according to the forms and rites of the Roman Catholic Church. The witnesses were Thomas Smith and Mary Hamill. Rose made her X mark. The marrigae was registered at Holytown on September 3rd 1883 by William Richard, registrar. 1
