In the birth record for Jane Gilchrist, born 26 December 1858, only her mother's name, also Jane Gilchrist, this Jane Gilchrist, is entered.

In the marriage certificate of her daughter, Jane, to Henry Nisbet in 1877, Jane's mother was recorded as 'Jane Stark MS Gilchrist'. ¹
