Marjory Forbes was the daughter of Christian Lundie/Lundy, who died before 29 July 1515 when John Forbes married his third wife. Marjorie's year of birth, therefore, was 1515 at the latest; Burnett was her second husband.

If Janet Hamilton was still alive in 1557, as is stated by Allardyce, then it is not very likely that Marjory Forbes, his second wife, bore him any children, and that all of the children attributed to Burnett were Janet Hamilton's. ^{3 4}

Marjory married Alexander FORBES 4th of Brux, son of John FORBES 3rd of Brux, 'the Glyd Laird' and Mary GORDON.^{1 2} (Alexander FORBES 4th of Brux was born in 1503 and died before 1536 ⁵.)

Marjory next married Alexander BURNETT 9th of Leys, son of Alexander BURNET of Collonach, younger of Leys and Agnes LICHTOUN, between 1557 and 1567.³ (Alexander BURNETT 9th of Leys was born about 1500 and died by 2 September 1574 ³.)

"Though the husband of Janet had, as will be seen, a daughter of Lord Forbes for his second wife, no armorial memento of the last-named lady remains.....

Janet Hamilton was alive, as has been seen, in 1557. Before 1567 she was dead, and her husband had entered into a second marriage with Marjory, daughter of John, 6th Lord Forbes, and widow of Forbes of Brux. Of the second marriage it does not appear that there was any issue; but of Alexander Burnett and Janet Hamilton there is evidence of there having been seven sons and four daughters...."
