Jane Porter was recorded as aged 77 years by the 1851 census for Tarbolton in Ayrshire Scotland. She had been born in Ireland. She was living in 1851 with her daughter Elizabeth and her family.

In her death certificate of 1862 Jane Porter it was recorded that she was the widow of Henry Porter, a nailor by occupation. Her recorded age at death was 83 years. Both of her parents were deceased. ^{1 2}

Jane Porter had no medical attendant.

Elizabeth Donaldson, Jane's daughter, who was present, gave notice of her mother's death before the registrar, John Dunlop, at Tarbolton on 26 March 1862 and made her X mark thereto.
