When his wife, Catherine Quigley, died in 1954 she was already a widow. Her husband, James, was recorded as having been a 'coal miner-hewer'.


James married Catherine QUIGLEY, daughter of Michael QUIGLY and Ann WOOD, on 5 June 1926 in St Sophia's Chapel, Galston, Ayrshire, Scotland. (Catherine QUIGLEY was born 26 March 1871 at 3.00 am in Ironwork Square, Galston, Ayrshire, Scotland 1 2 3 and died 8 July 1954 at 4.45 pm in No 3 Busbie Holding, Crosshouse, Ayrshire, Scotland.). The cause of her death was cerebral haemorrhage.


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was solemnised after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The priest was John Murphy, RC Clergyman of St Sophia's Galston. The witnesses were William Freeman of 9 Irvine Road Kilmarnock, and Susan McIlroy of Orchard Street Galston.

James Freeman, the bridegroom, was a widower of 51 years of age. His address was recorded as Eastpark Building, Knockintiber [sic]. Both of his parents were deceased.

Catherine Quigley was a single woman recorded as 53 years old, of Manse Brae Galston. Her parents were deceased.

The marriage was registered at Galston on 7 June 1926, Thomas Smith being the recording officer.
