The marriage took place at Lesmahagow after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The priest was D. Gillies (?).The witnesses were Patrick Hearty and Mary Smith.

James Fitzpatrick, who made his X mark, was aged 22 years and of Brocketsbrae, Lesmahagow. He worked as a coal miner and was unmarried. His father was deceased.

Jane Feely, who also made her X mark, was 21 years of age and also of Brocketsbrae. She was recorded as a "hawker's daughter" and was a spinster. Her father was deceased.

The marriage was registered at Lesmahagow on 21 June 1875, Duncan Campbell being the registrar. 2
