  General Notes:

Sophia Martha Allen, aged 39 years, is recorded in the London Workhouse Admission and Discharge Register, 1854-1856, as having been admitted to the workhouse at St Pancras in the borough of Camden on Wednesday 20 June 1855. Her husband is recorded as a painter.

In a separate document referring to the samd date of admission, she is recorded as Mrs Sophia Allen, and the additional information is noted that she was admitted at 51/2pm, presumably 5.30pm. In both documents Mr Birchmore is recorded as the agent, or person who admitted her. A third document from the same source, dated 3 November 1855, recorded the discharge of people from the workhouse; the "class" column in Sophia's case has "I" in it, as it did in the first document mentioned above, probably referring to the Infirmary where sick inmates were cared for, since another abbreviation used in another entry is"W. Infy". The Remarks column in Sophia's reads "Died Ward 4 W. I."

There is an entry for the death of Sophia Allen, aged 39 years, in "No 4 Ward", dated 3 November 1855, in the Parish Register of the St Pancras Chapel Poor Law Union in the borough of Camden, London, England.

Note: This record is available on the Ancestry website, but is mistranscribed there as 1854. The original text clearly shows it as 1855. 5 6
