The 1861 census for Govan parish recorded David McCall and his wife Rebecca living at Stories Land, Strathbungo in a dwelling with 1 windowed room. David was recorded as 20 years of age and had been born in Sorn, Ayrshire. He was an agricultural labourer. 1


David married Rebecca STEVEN, daughter of Montgomery STEVEN and Rebecca GEORGE, on 1 February 1861 in 2 Apsley Place, Glasgow, Scotland. (Rebecca STEVEN was born in 1842 in Kilmarnock Parish, Ayrshire, Scotland 1.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was performed after banns according to the forms of the Free Church of Scotland. The minister was Donald McKinnon. The witnesses were John Connel and Margaret Morrison.

David McCall, of 83 Cumberland Street, Glasgow, was an unmarried man of 20. He worked as a railway guard. His mother was deceased.

Rebecca Steven, of the same address, was also unmarried and aged 18. She was a domestic servant. Her mother, too, was dead. rebecca made her X mark.

The marriage was registered at Glasgow on February 2 1861, Nicol McDougall being the registrar.
