The family consisted of William Garven, head of the household, his wife and their five children. William junior, the second eldest child listed in the entry, was recorded as 16 years old and had been born in Glasgow. He worked as an iron turner. William married Rebecca QUIGLEY (DNA Link), daughter of Patrick QUIGLY (DNA Linked) and Margaret GEORGE (DNA Linked), on 27 September 1875 in Crookedholm, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland.1 (Rebecca QUIGLEY (DNA Link) was born in 1853 in Kilwinning, Ayrshire, Scotland 5 7, baptised on 28 November 1868 in St Joseph's RC Parish, Kilmarnock, Scotland,7 died on 26 April 1918 in Timaru, Canterbury, New Zealand 1 4 5 8 and was buried in Timaru Cemetery, New Zealand 5.) Marriage Notes: The marriage took place after banns according to the forms of the Free Church of Scotland. The minister was William Reid. The witnesses were Samuel Quigley [sic] and Jane Young. |
