Other names for John were CARELIN, John and CARLAN, John.3 General Notes: In the death certificate of his wife in 1863, John Carlin was recorded as being an iron miner. John married Sarah CAVANAGH, daughter of Michael CAVANAGH and Mary CAMPBELL, on 27 November 1849 in St Patrick's RC Church, Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (Sarah CAVANAGH was born in 1828 and died 18 November 1863 at 12.00 pm in Barrhill, Cumnock, Ayrshire, Scotland.). The cause of her death was premature birth and fever over 2 weeks. Marriage Notes: The earlier date of the 5 November 1849 supplied by the IGI was probably the banns of marriage. John next married Helen ALLISON, daughter of Archibald ALLISON and Jane NETTLETON, on 17 January 1867 in Barrhill, Old Cumnock, Ayrshire, Scotland. (Helen ALLISON was born on 4 March 1835 4 and was baptised on 8 March 1835 in Kirkmichael, Ayrshire, Scotland 4.) Marriage Notes: The marriage was celebrated according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The priest was Father John O'Dwyer CC. The witnesses were Michael McIver and Mary Drury, both of whom made their X mark. |
