General Notes: In 1851 the census for Bothwell parish recorded a woman of 22 years of age called Jean Crow, residing at the household of George McMillan in Monkey Row. George was the head of the household consisting of himself, his wife, Jean Crow his 'stepdaughter', and Mary McMillan his daughter. He was 44 years of age and born in Ireland. He had formerly been an ironstone miner. His wife, Mary, was 57 years old and was also born in Ireland. Jean Crow and Mary McMillan were both born in Dundonald, Ayrshire, and both worked as tambourers. Mary was 20 years of age and Jean Crow was 22 years of age. 3 Mary married John CROW about 1824. (John CROW was born about 1795.) Mary next married George McMILLAN on 29 January 1830 in Dundonald Parish, Ayrshire, Scotland. (George McMILLAN was born in 1806 in Ireland.) |
