James married Margaret GEORGE, daughter of Samuel GEORGE and Margaret WILSON, on 21 June 1895 in 46 St Vincent Crescent, Glasgow, Scotland.1 (Margaret GEORGE was born on 15 March 1870 in Govan parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland 2 3 and died 6 March 1946 at 11.30 pm in 1301 Govan Road, Glasgow, Scotland.). The cause of her death was acute congestion, cardiac failure and senility.


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was conducted according to the forms of the United Presbyterian Church. The minister was George G. Green. The witnesses were James Quin and Hugh Quin. The marriage was registered at Glasgow on 24 June 1895, James Stirling being the registrar.

The groom, James Spankie, was a bachelor of 29 years. He gave his address as 8 Walker Street, Partick. He was a shipyard labourer.

The bride, Margaret George, was a domestic servant, and gave her address as 18 Hyndland Street, Partick, possibly her place of work. She was aged 25 years. 1
