In the birth certificate of his son, James, in 1882, Henry Nisbet was recorded as a coal miner. It was he who gave notice o his son's birth before William Richard, registrar, at Holytown on 13 January 1882. He had been present where the birth occurred.

In James Nisbet's marriage certificate of 1904, his father, Henry, was recorded as a coalminer.


Henry married Jane GILCHRIST, daughter of John SHANNON and Jane GILCHRIST, on 17 August 1877 in Forth, Carnwath Parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland. (Jane GILCHRIST was born on 26 December 1858 in Carluke, Lanarkshire, Scotland 1 and died after 4 November 1904.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage took place after banns according to the forms of the Church of Scotland. The minister was Robert S. Millar, Minister of Forth, Parish of Carnwath. The witnesses were William Nisbet and Christina Stark.

Henry Nisbet was a single man of 20 years of age who worked as a coal miner. He lived in Forth, in the parish of Carnwath. Both of his parents were deceased.

Jane Gilchrist was an 18 year old single woman, also resident in Forth. She worked as a farm servant.

The marriage was registered at Carnwath of 18 August 1877, J. R. Russel being the registrar.
