No birth or baptism record has been found as yet for Ann Jack.

The 1841 census for Edinburgh, St Cuthbert's parish, recorded Anne Prentice living at no 19 Salisbury Street. The household consisted of Anne, aged 25 years, her two children, Catharine and Robert, and three other adults: Barbara Wilson aged 35 years and born in Midlothian, John McWilliams, and Catherine McWilliams, the latter being Ann's aunt Catherine Jack, sister of her father George Jack. Anne Prentice was recorded as having been born in Midlothian, Scotland.

In 1851, Ann Prentice was living with her husband, Robert, and three of their children aged from 15 years to 4 months, at Fountain Close, 28 High Street, Edinburgh. Ann was recorded as being 43 years of age.

In Ann Prentice's death certificate of 1872, it was recorded that she was married to Robert Prentice, a temperance hotel keeper, and that she was 63 years old at the time of her death. Her usual residence was Edinburgh. Both of her parents were deceased. 2 3 4

The cause of death was certified by R. Brine (?) MD.

Robert Prentice, son of the deceased woman, of 5 Milne Square, Edinburgh, gave notice of her death before the registrar at Musselburgh on 1 July 1872. 2


Ann married Robert PRENTICE on 15 September 1830 in Saint Cuthbert's parish, Edinburgh, Scotland.1 (Robert PRENTICE was born about 1809 in Edinburgh, Scotland 4 and died after 28 June 1872 2.)
