  General Notes:

Peter and Patrick were both recorded as the given name for this person, which is in accord with Scots and Irish traditions.

Peter was recorded as a cotton spinner in the baptismal records of his son Michael in 1818.

When Michael, was born in 1818 Margaret Liness was his godmother. This suggests that Peter was an older brother of Margaret, perhaps by several years or more. It is also possible that he was not a brother but a cousin. It is his association with Bernard and Margaret that suggests he was a member of this family. We also know he was a sponsor in 1819 along with Agnes Donnelly, herself possibly a relative of Isabella Donnelly - a niece perhaps.

A sponsor called Peter Linas was present at the baptism of James Quigley, son of John Quigley and Catherine Linas, on 20 June 1830 in St Mirin's Paisley.

Noted events in his life were:

1. sponsor at baptism, 23 February 1819, St Mirin's RC Chapel, Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland. 11 Patrick Lyness was a co sponsor with Agnes Donnelly at the christening of Mary Henry on February 23 1819 at Paisley.

Peter married Mary HENRY of Kilrea parish, County Derry on 28 April 1817 in St Andrew's RC parish, Glasgow, Scotland.1 2 3 (Mary HENRY of Kilrea parish, County Derry was born about 1795.)
