Cause of his death was poisoned (by what appears to have been) muriatic acid.4 General Notes: The 1861 census for the High Church district of Glasgow recorded Robert McKenzie living with his wife Elizabeth at 78 Old Vennell. Robert was head of the household and his age recorded as 24 years. His place of birth was Glasgow and his occupation 'fishing rod maker'. Medical Notes: David Smith MD certified the cause of death and added 'It is said to have been taken by himself: of this I cannot say'. Robert married Elizabeth WADE, daughter of James WADE Cotton Spinner and Ann QUIGLY, on 30 March 1857 in 18 Great Hamilton Street, Calton, Glasgow, Scotland.1 (Elizabeth WADE was born on 5 February 1822 in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland 3, baptised on 31 March 1822 in St Mirin's RC Chapel, Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland and died 20 December 1905 at 4.10 am in Gilmour Street, Eaglesham, Renfrewshire, Scotland.). The cause of her death was typhlitis and cardiac dilatation over 7 months.4 Marriage Notes: The marriage after banns was performed according to the forms of the Church of Scotland by the minister of Calton, Allan Maclean. |
