   Cause of his death was pneumonia over 10 days.4

  General Notes:

Hugh was a wool sorter, according to the death certificate of his wife Mary in 1859. He survived her and notified the registrar of the details of her death.

In 1861 Hugh Lawrie was living with his children and a new wife, Agnes, in Crookedholm village, in the parish of Kilmarnock Ayrshire.

When he died in 1879 Hugh Lowrie [sic] was recorded as "Bleacher" and "Widower of Mary George". His age was noted as 69 years. No Christian names were recorded for his parents who were both deceased, but his father was recorded as a farm labourer, and his mother's maiden name was noted as McDonald.

In the 1918 death certificate of his daughter Margaret, Hugh Laurie was recorded as having been a ploughman. 4 5 8 10

  Medical Notes:

Hugh's son in law, Alexander McBlane, who had been present where the death took place, gave notice of the death before the registrar at Sorn on 20 May 1879. His address was noted as Bridge Street, Catrine. 4


Hugh married Agnes K. RICHMOND in 1860 in Kilmaurs parish, Ayrshire, Scotland.1 (Agnes K. RICHMOND was born about 1823 in Ayrshire, Scotland 5.)


Hugh next married Mary GEORGE (DNA Link), daughter of Samuel GEORGE (DNA Linked) and Rebecca REID (DNA Linked), on 18 January 1839 in Kilmarnock Parish, Ayrshire, Scotland. (Mary GEORGE (DNA Link) was born on 25 May 1819 in Newton on Ayr parish, Ayrshire, Scotland 3, baptised on 30 May 1819 in Newton on Ayr parish, Ayrshire, Scotland, died 17 March 1859 at 9.30pm in Crookedholm, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland 2 and was buried in St Andrew's Burial Ground, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland.). The cause of her death was instantaneous ruption of the uterus.4
