"JOHN KEITH of Ludquharn, M.A.; min. in 1567, and still in the charge in 1607. He also held Kinedar from 1567 to 1572, Ogston from 1574 to 1579, and Alves from 1574 to 1576. In 1571 and 1582 he was app. by the Assembly to visit parishes and plant kirks in Moray, and in 1585 he was app. commissioner for that province. Between 1571 and 1589 he was a member of eleven Assemblies, and is mentioned as one who had 'taken a deep interest in the well-being of the Church,' though he was accused on 30th Aug. 1595 of having 'delapidat the benefice of Keith-Marischal.' He marr. Anna or Janet (survived him, and marr. (2) George Gordon of Tilphoudie), natural daugh. of Alexander Sutherland, Dean of Caithness, and had issue Alexander, M.A., portioner of Duffus; Francis; Margaret (marr.
