Note: There is some confusion as to the status of William. The Leiths of Harthill states (page 16 footnote) that "William filius naturalis of Patrick Leith" was acquiring land in 1546 (RMS 1513-1546 p.765); and that his name also occurs as "brother german of John Leith" in 1604. It's possible there were two of the same name. ^{1 3}
