ADAMS, John 1

  • Born: 9 January 1860, Borthwick parish, Midlothian, Scotland 1

  General Notes:

In 1871 the census for Crichton, Midlothian, recorded John Adams as head of a household living at Tynebank, Turnie Dykes, with his wife and family. As well as his wife, there were six others living in the household: five were his children and the sixth was a 'relative' named Mary Adams. John Adams was the third eldest of the children recorded in the entry. His birthplace was noted as Borthwick, and he was 10 years old and a scholar.

John may have emigrated with his sister Sarah to Australia. A man of his name and age was on board the vessel Anglo Indian from Glasgow to Cooktown in 1883. 2
