Note:
This entry, and other baptismal entries for their children, make clear that Thomas Mouat, the husband of Margaret Dickson, was not the son of Thomas M and Agness Simpson but the widower of Agness. Margaret Dickson was his second wife. Here he is referred to as Thomas Muatt 'senior', and elsewhere as 'elder'. His son Thomas is referred to as Thomas 'your' or 'younger', to avoid confusion for they were both married men and procreating in the same time period.
The last child known of Agnes Simpson was born in 1768, and one must suppose she died sometime after that, before her widower's marriage to Margaret Dickson. The Thomas mentioned in the witness list above was probably Thomas the younger. 1
